From a photograph, this has become one of David's all time favorite works. The composition is nicely centered on the circular motion produced by the branch hanging down and leaves seeming to fall downward, as another branch points the eye back toward the trunk of the tree where the hanging branch again starts the circle. David enhanced the photo's colors then finished the image in a somewhat stylized, simplified painterly way.
