Artist's ZBrush model of Santa Claus. Revised with ZBrush version 4R7, rendered with the ZBrush to Keyshot plugin. Inspired by the American Santa Claus developed mostly by Coca Cola in the 20th Century. A work in progress...
A recent new upgrade of ZBrush in 64 bit made it possible to be more accurate in the taming of the fibers (fur and hair) on the model, more like using a real hair brush or tool. Previously, using fibers was more of a mechanical feel, and also rendering them realistically in ZBrush or exporting them for rendering took much longer. Now with the Keyshot plugin, the artist simply creates the model with its fibers in ZBrush, presses a button, and the model is automatically exported to Keyshot for rendering in real time.
Because ZBrush is now so fast and smooth, the artist was able to quickly refer to the paintings of Santa of the past and change the proportions quite a bit from previous models.
