Artist's Description

The spinach-loving pilot completes another successful mission in his USAF A-10 Thunderbolt, aka Warthog, emphasizing in this pose the massive gatling gun in the nose. Painted by hand by David with Corel Painter. For a reference, David created a Popeye the Sailor 3D ZBrush model as one of his first 3D projects, then rendered him outside a Mesh Factory A-10 model for this pose.

Revised version, July 4, 2016.

Revised version, Nov. 11, 2023 (David mixed some AI-improved and sharpened layers with the original, giving some sharpness to the painting, and expanded the resolution to 10,000 pixels from about 3,000.)

David finishes his prints in very high resolution, so even large size prints will have great smoothness, sharpness and details. His monitor is color calibrated, so for a person viewing this image with a calibrated screen, the ordered print will look very close to it. Digital art encompasses all the traditional media I used before, because it can virtually mimic them all, then add the ease by which it does so, and basically any type of medium that can be taken from the...
