Artist's Description

A United States Air Force SR-71 Blackbird uses its military afterburners to attain very high speed.

"I rendered a model I purchased from a great model maker source: Mesh Factory, then posed and rendered it in front of a cloud background I created with the 3D program, Vue. After the render I used many of the render passes to paint from as sources, to balance in and out the aspects that I liked with Painter X3 and my Wacom Cintiq display. I like to blur the closer parts of the cloud to get the effect of relative speed differences. I once experimented with texture alphas, glows and cones to simulate the dancing diamonds that are visible with the afterburners, and it was used with the model here to get that effect."

Then the finished painting was done using all the preparations made using Corel Painter. David finishes his prints in very high resolution, so even large size prints will have great smoothness, sharpness and details. His monitor is color calibrated, so for a per...
